Start DLS 2.0 » DYMO Label Software v2.0 does not print all the database records When you have only one object on your label (i.e. a database field) and this field contains empty values, then the software will stop printing labels when it encounters an empty value in this field. All the (non-empty) subsequent records will not be printed. Solution: Add another object to the label and try printing again: all the records will be printed, even the ones with empty values. or Print only the records which have a value in the database field. Solution: Avoid typing extended characters in the name or organization field: e.g. type "Mueller" or "Muller" instead of "Muller". » Error message: "Couldn't Open Port Or Initialize Printer" POSSIBLE CAUSE(S) 1. The labelmaker is not switched on. Solution: Switch on the labelmaker. 2. The labelmaker is not set in PC Link mode (only for DYMO 6000 and DYMO 9000). Solution: - DYMO 6000: plug the PC Link cartridge correctly into the DYMO 6000 and switch it on - DYMO 9000: set the labelmaker in PC Link mode by pressing the "Set Up" button and choosing "PC LINK" 3. The serial communication cable is not properly connected. Solution: Plug either the 9-pin or the 25-pin connector of the serial cable into a serial COM port of the PC and plug the other end of the cable (telephone plug) in the labelmaker. 4. The software is not configured for the correct port. Solution: Go to "DYMO Printer Setup" in the software and select the correct COM port (COM 1, COM 2, ...): i.e. the port to which the labelmaker is physically connected. 5. Another program is locking the COM port. Solution: Close or remove this program, so that the COM port is not locked anymore. 6. Defective COM port (hardware problem). The Print setup dialog box is displayed 2. Change the COM port to the correct one (1, 2, ...). 3. Click Printer Test The Printer Test dialog box is displayed. 4. Click the Initialize Port button. If you have selected the correct COM port a message containing 'Port Open' and 'PC-10 detected' is displayed in the Printer response dialog box. If this information is not displayed, repeat this procedure until the correct COM port is detected.
2. Switch the printer on (and put it in PC-LINK mode if necessary). 3. Start the HyperTerminal program by clicking Start in the task bar. Point to Program Files, Accessories, HyperTerminal and click HyperTerminal The Hyper terminal application is started. 4. Enter any name and choose an icon in the Connection Description dialog box. 5. Select the TEST.TXT file (see attachment). If the connection is OK, the printer will cut. If not, the COM port is still locked by another application. Only for DYMO 2000 / DYMO 5500 / DYMO 1000 / DYMO 1000Plus, LM200 / LM300 / LP200 / LP300: The tape width switch in the cassette bay is set to the wrong position. Solution: Check the position of the tape width switch in the cassette bay and set it to the correct position. Depending on the model the switch can be set to 6, 9, 12, 19 or 24 mm. 2. Only for DYMO 9000 / DYMO PC-10: The substrate and carbon cassettes have features to avoid the possible combination of a 19 mm carbon cassette with a 24 or 32 mm substrate cassette. In these combinations, the cassette will not fit properly in the cassette bay. Solution: The 19 mm carbon cassette can only be combined with 6, 12 and 19 mm substrate cassettes The 28 mm carbon cassette can be combined with all types of substrate cassettes. The substrate and carbon cassettes have features to avoid the possible combination of a 19 mm carbon cassette and a 24 and 32 mm substrate cassette. In these combinations, the cassette will not fit properly in the cassette bay. 3. There is no recess (hole) in the bottom case of the carbon cassette. (See below for more information) Solution: Use a newer carbon cassette that has a recess (hole) » The text is printed rather weak on the entire label. 1. The batteries are low (not applicable for DYMO 9000 and DYMO PC-10). Solution: - Check if the batteries are still OK and replace them by new ones if necessary. Make sure the new batteries are of a good quality since it often happens that batteries (even new ones) do not provide the power required by the machine. Use only Alkaline or rechargeable batteries with DYMO machines or - Use an adapter if possible. If you choose to do so, please make sure to use an adapter that complies with your machine's power supply specifications. Your dealer can advice you in selecting the right adapter. 2. There is a problem with the cassette. Solution: Replace the cassette by a new one. If the problem persists, your labelmaker will have to be repaired. Return the faulty labelmaker to your dealer, who will handle the repair procedure from there. » The ink ribbon sticks to the label and comes out of the labelmaker 1. The tape has not been used for a while. Solution: 1. Take out the cassette and pull the tape 10 cm out of the cassette. 2. Wind the ink ribbon somewhat further by turning the black spool in the cassette clockwise until the ribbon is taut and flat. 3. Reinsert the cassette and print an empty label. 2. The ink ribbon is broken Solution: replace the cassette by a new one. » White diagonal lines run through the printed text. The cassette is incorrectly positioned inside the cassette compartment. Solution: Take out the cassette and check that there are no objects left inside the cassette compartment (e.g. a paperclip, a piece of tape,...) . Push the cassette firmly back into the compartment in order to make sure fits at the bottom of the cassette compartment. The ink ribbon is folded. Solution: Wind the ink ribbon somewhat further by turning the black spool in the cassette clockwise until the ribbon is taut and flat. The ink ribbon inside the cassette keeps folding. Solution: Replace the cassette by a new one. If the problem persists, your labelmaker will have to be repaired. Return the faulty labelmaker to your dealer, who will handle the repair procedure from there. » White vertical lines run through the printed text. The contrast level is too low (not for D5000, D6000, D9000 and PC-10). Solution: Increase the contrast level.
