DYMO Launches New LabelWriter Printers

DYMO Launches New LabelWriter Printers; Receives US Postal Service Approval To Print PC Postage.
GREENWICH, CT, 07/08/1999

DYMO, the worlds leading manufacturer of PC label printers, today announced three new models of its popular LabelWriter printer line, two of which print electronic postage thus eliminating stamps and postal meters.

The new modelsEL40, EL60 and Turbo contain all new hardware and software, making it easier than ever to print one-at-a-time labels from a PC.

The EL60 and Turbo models are also approved by the U.S. Postal Service to print PC Postage, a recently launched initiative that allows computer users to print electronic postage stamps direct from their Windows based PCs. DYMO has entered into marketing and distribution partnerships with Stamps.com and E-Stamp, the first two companies approved by the U.S. Postal Service to market PC Postage services.

We believe that LabelWriter printers will play a crucial role in the success of PC Postage, said Andrew Newmark of DYMO. While printing postage directly from a PC is a tremendous convenience, printing envelopes and labels with a laser or inkjet printer is quite cumbersome. By contrast, the DYMO LabelWriter prints electronic postage labels quickly and flawlessly, right at your desk.

New Features:

  • The LabelWriter EL40, EL60 and Turbo printers feature an entirely new design that makes it easier to load and change label rolls. They are also the first label printers that eliminate bulk power transformer by featuring internal power supplies. The new printers work worldwide, on voltage from 100-250 volts, simply by changing power cords. These are also the fastest printers in their class. The EL40 and EL60 models print 12 labels per minute. The Turbo prints 30 labels per minute.
  • The new printers also come with all new DYMO Label Software that includes more than 40 predefined templates covering most labeling needs. Users can also design their own templates with a powerful label designer. The software also includes a built-in list manager to allow storage of frequently used names and addresses. The new software also integrates directly into the main toolbars of Microsoft Word and Outlook, GoldMine and Symantecs ACT! enabling users to print labels from these popular programs with just a couple of mouse clicks.
  • The LabelWriter EL40 handles address, file folder, video spine and other labels up to 1-1/2 inches wide. The EL60 and Turbo models print larger labels (up to 2-1/4inches wide) for all of the above applications plus labels for packages, cassettes, disks, name badges and videotapes. Plus the EL60 and Turbo models print PC Postage.
  • The LabelWriter EL40, EL60 and Turbo printers are available now through computer and office product resellers nationwide. Street prices are as follows: LabelWriter EL40, $149.95; LabelWriter EL60, $199.95; and the LabelWriter Turbo at $249.95.
