DYMO® STAMPS™ GIVES CONSUMERS ITS TWO-CENTS WITH FREE POSTAGE OFFERStamford, CT, 08/05/2007
Beginning May 14, the United States Postal Service will require an
additional two-cents to mail a First-Class Mail, one-ounce letter. Many
other postal rates are also rising - from parcels to postcards to
priority mail. For businesses - especially small businesses - the
increase can be costly, both in time and money. In fact, according to a
new survey from DYMO®, more than 40 percent of small businesses will
need to make additional trips to the Post Office when the new rates hit.
To help bridge the two-cent gap, DYMO Stamps™, the only online postage
service currently without a monthly service fee, is giving away its
“two-cents” – that is, free two-cent stamps as well as helpful
information on the new rate structure. Beginning May 8, the first 10,000
consumers who go to www.dymo.com/twocents and register will receive a
set of ten free two-cent DYMO Stamps.
“This is just one way DYMO is trying to help businesses and households
transition to the new rate structure,” said Miguel Ortiz, marketing
director for DYMO Stamps. “It’s also an opportunity for us to educate
people about the new rates and how to eliminate unnecessary trips to the
Post Office to purchase additional postage.”
Ortiz highlights the recent survey, which examined 306 small businesses
across the country, as an example of the need to educate consumers.
Nearly 70 percent of respondents (68.9 percent) still purchase most of
their postage at the Post Office, while 62.9 percent have never
purchased or used Internet postage.
“With tight mailing budgets, especially for small businesses, it’s
important for industry resources like DYMO to provide consumers with the
appropriate tools and information to help their business grow,” Ortiz
said. Ortiz points to a survey finding indicating that nearly one-third
(32.9 percent) of small businesses spend at least $1,000 a year on
postage, with about half of that group spending more than $5,000.
