DYMO Offers Tips on "How to be a "Type O" at Home"

Whether it’s summer time with the kids out of school or it’s time to get the kids ready for their first day of school, it can be extremely difficult to keep a household running like a well-oiled machine. Softball and soccer practices, lost homework and pool parties can lead a “Type O” (organized) individual into a “Type O-No!”

DYMO, the leading global manufacturer of labeling products, and sponsors of “The 2006 DYMO® Search for Order Opposites” contest is offering the following tips to help you have a great order defense with a great order offense:

    1. Be realistic: Do not attempt to organize the whole house at once. Tackle a room once you have one finished.

    2. Right in front of you: Make sure all everyday items are within arm’s reach and store all seldom-used items in labeled containers.

    3. It’s a date: Have a calendar handy, preferably next to the phone, to make sure you are aware of all upcoming appointments, ball games, and recitals.

    4. Play time: Keep properly labeled toy baskets in rooms where kids play. Simply toss toys back in the basket once they are done playing and regain some adult space.

    5. Get rid of it: Dispose of items you have not used for more than one year.

    6. Save the trees: Only subscribe to those publications you read cover to cover and place those you need to read in labeled storage bins.

    7. A cool reminder: Have magnetic labels on the refrigerator as reminders for each family member.

    8. Divide and conquer: Schedule and assign household chores to each member of the family.

    9. Making the most of it: Maximize your closet space with extra rods, racks and shelf dividers. Need assistance? Do not be afraid to ask for help!
