To Print Circles, You Should Print in Circles

When you insert paper or media into an inkjet printer, it is moved through the printer as the print head moves back and forth. The familiar sound of an inkjet printer is reminiscent of a typewriter as it ‘returns’ to the start position and prints another line. With traditional inkjet printers, the user waits as the paper moves out of the printer housing line-by-line and the final product is revealed.

A number of years ago, some very smart-thinking inventors envisioned a system whereby the media inserted into the printer would move faster than the print head. They realized that this would be particularly useful for printing discs– something that is very challenging to print, period.

This vision led to a journey of development that included sophisticated work to create a system that converted images to data that could be printed in a series of carefully controlled circular passes of ink with quality equal to leading inkjet printers. The end result is patented RadialPrint™ Technology – a beneficial marriage of quality and speed.

See Technology At Work

One of the first things you’ll notice about the DYMO® DiscPainter™ CD/DVD printer is that you can see the printing as it happens. When you insert a disc to print, it will move backward under the print housing. Then you will see the disc continuously move forward as it prints and after a number of revolutions you will see ink being applied to your disc starting from the center and moving outward.

It’s not that often that you can see technology at work and for most people, seeing the disc come to life is something worth watching. From photos and art, to titles and text, DiscPainter™ converts them to print in perfect circles on a spinning disc for fantastic and fast results.

What To Expect

As a dedicated disc printer, the DYMO® DiscPainter™ CD/DVD printer has been designed to meet all the challenges of printing discs – a very different medium from paper or sticky labels. DiscPainter™ allows the user to adjust printing for the type of disc (CD/DVD/mini disc) and whether or not the center hub can be printed. The user can choose from three print settings: fast, normal or best. Ink density can also be adjusted to optimize the quality for the specific disc surface: matte, glossy or color. In short, people who use DiscPainter™ have said that their expectations have been exceeded. Quality, speed and ease of use are what DiscPainter™ is all about.

*Do not attempt to print the data side of any disc. The DiscPainter™ CD/DVD printer only prints on inkjet-printable disc surfaces.
