First, you should install the printer driver on the PC the Label Maker
is connected to.
Make sure the DYMO Label Maker is set up as a shared printer.
To make it shared ask the owner of the Label Maker (the PC where the
Label Maker is connected to physically) to do the following: On the
Windows taskbar, click the Start button, point to Settings, then click
Printers.
The window 'Printers' is opened. Right click on the Label Maker icon and
click Properties.
Click on the tab page Sharing and select Shared[*]. Fill in a name (e.g.
My Label Maker) for the printer.
Also, install the printer driver on your PC.
1. On the Windows taskbar, click the Start button, point to Settings,
then click Printers.
The window 'Printers' is opened.
2. Double-click the Add printer icon.
A dialog box is displayed.
Click Next.
3. Select Network printer and click Next.
4. Click Browse... and select the printer (e.g. My Label Maker) out of
the list and click OK.
Click Next
5. Click on the Have Disk button and type in or browse to the directory
containing the DYMO printer driver files.
6. Click OK
7. Select DYMO Label Maker.
8. Click Next.
9. If you want another name than 'DYMO LabelMaker you can now fill in
another name in the field 'Printer Name'.
10. Click Next, select Yes(recommended) and click Finish.
11. You should get a message box with help on using a DYMO port. You
installed the Label Maker correctly.
12. Click OK.
NOTE: the Label Maker can only be used as a shared printer from Windows
based application.
You cannot print from the DLS 2.0 software to a Label Maker in the
network.
A. For Windows NT

Set the DYMO Labelmaker as default printer

2. Right-click the DYMO LabelMaker icon and
click Set as default.
To Print from Excel to the labelmaker
1. On the Windows taskbar, click the Start button, point to Programs, then
click Microsoft Excel.
The program is started.
2. On the File
menu, click Page Setup...
The Page Setup dialog box is displayed.
3. Choose either Landscape or Portrait in the Orientation option Choose
the correct label size out of the dropdown list in the Paper size option.
4. Click the Margins tab and set following margins to zero: top, bottom, left
and right.
5. Click OK
6. The labelsizes are indicated on the
worksheet by dashed lines.
Data can now be entered on the labels
and the labels can be printed to the labelmaker.
Set the DYMO Labelmaker as default printer
1. On the
Windows taskbar, click the Start button, point to Settings, then click
Printers.
The Printers page is displayed.
2. Right-click the DYMO
LabelMaker icon and click Set as default.
To Print from Word
to the labelmaker
1. On the Windows taskbar, click the Start
button, point to Programs, then click Microsoft Word.
The program is
started.
2. On the File menu, click Page Setup...
The Page Setup
dialog box is displayed.
3. Click the Paper Size tab and choose
either Landscape or Portrait in the Orientation option Choose the
correct label size out of the dropdown list in the Paper size option.
4. Click the Margins tab and set following margins to zero: top, bottom,
left and right.
5. Click
OK
6. Click Fix
7. Click OK
The
labelsizes are indicated on the worksheet .
Data can now be entered
on the labels and the labels can be printed to the Labelmaker.
To print data from an ASCII file directly to the labelmaker without
using Dymo Label Software v2.0 is not possible . You will need to work
around by:
1. Import the ASCII data into an Excel file.
2. Save this Excel file as a 3.0/4.0/5.0 or 7.0 file type. Please do not
save it as an Excel 97 type, since this file type is not supported by
the Dymo Label Software v2.0.
3. The data in your Excel file can now be:
- imported in the Dymo
Label Software v2.0.
- printed directly to the labelmaker via the
printer driver.
To import data from an Excel file into DLS 2.0
1. Start DLS 2.0
2. From the Insert menu, select Database Field.
or
Click the
Database button.
3. Browse to the database from which you want to insert fields.
4. Drag the fields' name onto the label.
5. Print the labels.
Please check if the Excel file is of an Excel 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 or 7.0
file type.
If not, the file should be saved as one of these types.
1. Open DYMO Label Software v2.0.
2. Select Insert Barcode The Insert Barcode dialog box is
displayed.
3. Click Database and select the Excel file.
4. Select the Field Name containing the bar code data.
Automatically, a number (mostly 8) of caps (^) will be entered in the
'Content' text box. These represent the number of characters that will
be used in the bar code.
5. If you are using a bar code type which requires a fixed number of
digits, adjust this number of caps (^) accordingly to the number of
required digits. E.g. for EAN-13, which requires 12 digits, you should
add 4 more caps (^) to the 8 caps (^) that are already in the 'Content'
text box.
6. Click OK.
The bar code is now ready.

Excel 5.0/7.0 (7.0 is Excel for Office 95, but
Excel 97 - from Office 97 - cannot be imported!)

The serial number is printed on a white label. This label can be found in either the cassette compartment or in the battery compartment.
