Problem Details:
When labels are printed, the ink ribbon comes out together with the
tape. It seems like the labelmaker has printed the text reversed.
Possible Cause(s):
A. The tape has not been used for a while.
Solution:
1. Take out the cassette and pull the tape 10 cm out of the cassette.
2.
Wind the ink ribbon somewhat further by turning the black spool in the
cassette clockwise until the ribbon is taut and flat.
3. Reinsert the
cassette and print an empty label.
B. A new cassette was inserted and the ink ribbon was not taut and
flat (not for machines with a carbon retensioner).
Solution:
1. Wind the ink ribbon somewhat further by turning the black spool in
the cassette clockwise until the ribbon is taut and flat.
2. Reinsert
the cassette and print an empty label.
C. The ink ribbon is broken
Solution:
Replace the cassette by a new one
Possible Cause(s):
There is dust or dirt on the rubber transport roller inside the cassette
compartment
or
The carbon ribbon got wrapped around the rubber
transport roller inside the cassette compartment
Solution:
The rubber transport roller should be cleaned with either:
the
special brush delivered together with the labelmaker
or
a cotton
bud and a soft solvent (e.g. alcohol).
or
the carbon ribbon should
be gently removed from around the rubber transport roller inside the
cassette compartment.
The best way to do this is by pulling the carbon ribbon gently with the
use of a pair of tweezers and meanwhile letting the roller turn by
pressing the print button. Make sure not to touch the printhead while
performing this action, to avoid damage.
If the problem persists, your labelmaker will have to be repaired.
Return the faulty labelmaker to your dealer, who will handle the repair
procedure from there.

POSSIBLE CAUSE(S)
A. The batteries are low.
Solution:
Check if the batteries are still OK and replace them by new ones if
necessary. Make sure the new batteries are of a good quality since it
often happens that batteries (even new ones) do not provide the power
required by the machine. Use only Alkaline or rechargeable batteries
with DYMO machines.
or
Use an adapter if possible. If you choose
to do so, please make sure to use an adapter that complies with your
machine's power supply specifications. Your dealer can advice you in
selecting the right adapter.

POSSIBLE CAUSE(S)
The ink ribbon doesn't move with the label while printing.
Solution:
Take out the cassette and check if the ink ribbon isn't at its end or
isn't broken.
If the problem persists, your labelmaker will have to be repaired.
Return the faulty labelmaker to your dealer, who will handle the repair

cassette compartment (e.g. a paper clip, a piece of tape,...) .
Push the cassette firmly back into the compartment in order to make sure
it fits at the bottom of the cassette compartment.
2. The tape is not properly guided through the guidance pins of the
cassette while printing.
Solution:
To check this, take out the cassette and make sure the tape is properly
guided through both guidance pins of the cassette.
If the problem persists, your labelmaker will have to be repaired.
Return the faulty labelmaker to your dealer, who will handle the repair
procedure from there.
PROBLEM DETAILS
The tape does not come out of the labelmaker or stops feeding while the
label is printed.
POSSIBLE CAUSE(S)
1. There is no tape cassette in the labelmaker or the cassette is at
its end.
Solution:
Replace the cassette by a new one.
2. There is dust or dirt on the rubber transport roller inside the
cassette compartment .
or
the carbon ribbon got wrapped around the rubber transport roller inside
the cassette compartment .
Solution:
The rubber transport roller should be cleaned with either:
- the special brush delivered together with the labelmaker
or
- a cotton bud and a soft solvent (e.g. alcohol).
or
- the carbon ribbon should be gently removed from around the rubber
transport roller inside the cassette compartment.
The best way to do
this is by pulling the carbon ribbon gently with the use of a pair of
tweezers and meanwhile letting the roller turn by pressing the print
button. Make sure not to touch the printhead while performing this
action, to avoid damage.
3. The cassette is incorrectly positioned inside the cassette
compartment.
Solution:
Push the cassette firmly into the compartment in order to make sure it
fits at the bottom of the cassette compartment.
4. There is glue or dust on the cutter blade.
Every time a label is cut, residue from the label's glue remains on the
cutter blade. This is a normal phenomenon when the Labelmaker is
frequently used.
Solution:
It is therefore important to regularly clean the cutter blade in the
cassette compartment with either:
- the special brush delivered together with the labelmaker
or
- a cotton bud and a soft solvent (e.g. alcohol).
5. The tape is not properly guided through the guidance pins of the
cassette while printing.
Solution:
To check this, take out the cassette and make sure the tape is guided
properly through both guidance pins of the cassette.
6. The piece of tape is not coming out far enough of the cassette and
has no contact with the transport roller.
Solution:
Pull the tape 5 cm out of the cassette and try again.
If the problem persists, your labelmaker will have to be repaired.
Return the faulty labelmaker to your dealer, who will handle the repair
procedure from there.
The selected font size is too large to be printed.
Solution:
Select a smaller font size.
When printing a vertical wrap label with a 12mm tape the maximum number
of characters that can be printed is 3.
Solution:
Use a 19mm tape to print a maximum of 5 characters. Every character
after the fifth will not be printed.
It is not possible to combine/print graphics with the functionnality ‘ Module Marking’.
Possible Cause(s):
Depending on the label material, when printing, the label is being
transported by the printer slightly too far or not far enough.
This
causes the modules being slightly too long or too short.
The printed
vertical lines are shifted too far to the right.
Solution:
Reduce the module length by 0,5 mm.
E.g. for module length 17,5 mm,
enter 17 mm (when too long) or 18 mm (when too short) instead.
No, unfortunately not. After inserting a new tape cassette, printing will need to be restarted and the labels that still need to be printed, have to be re-selected.
PROBLEM DETAILS
When certain keys on the keyboard are pressed, the
labelmaker does not react.
POSSIBLE CAUSE(S)
There is dust or dirt under the keymat.
Solution:
The labelmaker will have to be cleaned. Return the faulty labelmaker to
your dealer who will handle the repair procedure from there.
With the AC Adapter connected and the printer turned off the battery
pack is not charged.
The printer should first be turned on again ( by
pressing the power-on key 1x) in order to initiate the charging.
When
the printer shuts off after 2 minutes, the charging will continue.
PROBLEM DETAILS:
The label cannot be removed from the labelmaker after the tape has been
cut.
The label is not properly cut-off.
POSSIBLE CAUSE(S):
1. There is glue or dust on the cutter blade.
Every time a label is cut, residue from the label's glue remains on the
cutter blade. This is a normal phenomenon when the Labelmaker is
frequently used.
Solution:
It is therefore important to regularly clean the cutter blade in the
cassette compartment with either:
the special brush delivered
together with the labelmaker
or
a cotton bud and a soft solvent
(e.g. alcohol).
2. Objects (e.g. a piece of tape,...) obstructing the cutter blade's
normal operation.
Solution:
Take out the cassette and check that there are no objects in front of
the cutter blade (e.g. a piece of tape,...) . Remove all strange objects
from the cutter blade and push the cassette firmly back into the
compartment in order to make sure it fits properly at the bottom of the
cassette compartment.
If the problem persists, your labelmaker will have to be repaired.
Return the faulty labelmaker to your dealer, who will handle the repair
procedure from there.
WARNING: when cleaning the cutter blade or the cassette
compartment, make sure the cutter blade is never touched with any metal
object as this might reduce the sharpness of the blade.
