GuestGuard is a web-based solution and runs on a central server. By
means of a dedicated PC and LabelWriter printer which is placed at the
reception desk, this application is accessed through an internet
connection.
The visitor, guard or receptionist enters the information on the screen
which contains the company logo, welcome text, selected data fields, ...
When the data is entered, the badge is printed automatically. The
adhesive badge can be safely applied to clothing or attached to a badge
holder.
When leaving the company, the visitor is checked-out by entering the
unique badge code. At the same time, the data entered is stored in a
database on the server. This enables to make reports such as who is
currently on site, who has been there, and chronological history.
GuestGuard is made up of two modes: a visitor mode (registration
terminal) and an administrator's mode (administrator terminal) which
both can run from the same computer.
The visitor mode can be used to give visitors the ability to
check themselves in and out without giving them the ability to
manipulate the system in any way.
The administrator's mode is much more elaborate. This mode is
meant for the receptionists, guards, or other dedicated company users.
Besides managing the check-in and check-out process of visitors, they
have a wide range of parameters they can manipulate. For instance:
- get a clear overview in real time of the visitors present in the
building
- obtain a list of visitors with one simple click in case of
an emergency
- ability to see all visitors from yesterday
-
ability to add employees to the list
- ability to create reports
-
ability to create new users
- customize the text which is displayed
on the different screens
- and much more
All these options are hidden in the visitor mode. The receptionist or
guard can easily switch between these two modes, or execute everything
from the administrator mode.
In order to make sure all data is exchanged via secure connections, DYMO
uses the most popular network protocol: https. HTTPS is the
Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol with SSL Encryption. SSL is short for
Secure Sockets Layer, a protocol developed by Netscape for transmitting
private data via the Internet.
SSL works by using a private key to encrypt data that's transferred over
the SSL connection. Both Nescape Navigator and Internet Explorer support
SSL, and many websites use the protocol to obtain confidential user
information, such as credit card numbers.
On top of that, each client has it's own dedicated url and GuestGuard
solution which maintains itself a user name and password database to
guarantee that the application is only accessible by the client's
designated, authorised individuals.
The databases are only stored on the Dymo servers. Only authorized people have access to these servers. Dymo does not use this data in any way or for any purpose.
Yes, the same Guestguard application can be used by two or more
computers.
E.g. two reception desks, can run the same GuestGuard
application.
Of course, both will need a PC and a LabelWriter.
Both LabelWriters will also need the same name.
Yes, as long as it are DYMO labels, there is no problem.
