        1. Make sure your label printer is plugged in and turned on before continuing.
        2. Open System Preferences for Print & Fax.
        3. Click the + button under the Printers list.
        4. Select the label printer from the list of choices in the Printer List and click Add. The printer is added to the printer list.
        5. Close the Printer Preferences to complete the installation.

        Mac OS X v10.4, v10.3, and v10.2.8

Printers other than the LabelWriter Duo printer If you do not connect the label printer when asked to do so during the software installation or if you have problems with the printer installation, follow these instructions to add the printer manually:

        1. Make sure your label printer is plugged in and turned on before continuing.

        1. Make sure your label printer is plugged in and turned on before continuing.
        2. Open System Preferences for Print & Fax.
        3. Click the + button under the Printers list. You may see the label printer(s) listed in the printer list but the Add button will not be available.
        4. Click More Printers and select DYMO DUO USB from the drop-down list at the top of the Printer List dialog box.
        5. Select DYMO DUO Label from the list of printers and click Add.
        6. Repeat steps 3 through 5 to add DYMO DUO Tape (or DYMO DUO Tape 128).

The LabelWriter Duo printer appears as two separate printers in the Printer list: DYMO DUO Tape (or DYMO DUO Tape 128) and DYMO DUO Label. You need to install each of these printers separately.

        LabelWriter Duo Notes

The LabelWriter Duo printer does not support Rendezvous. You will not be able to locate a LabelWriter Duo printer with Rendezvous.

Printing to both the LabelWriter Duo Tape and Label printers at the same time is not recommended.

NOTE: In some cases, you may not see your printer model listed in the Printer Setup utility or the Add button may be disabled. If this occurs, exit and restart the Printer Setup Utility.

        COMPATIBILITY

        Microsoft Office X and 2004

To use DYMO LabelWriter Add-In for Microsoft Office X and 2004, you must have Microsoft Office Service Pack 1 installed. If you do not have Service Pack 1 installed, you will not be able to see the LabelWriter icon in the Word toolbar. You can download the latest Service Pack for Microsoft Word, free of charge, from the Microsoft Web site.

        Microsoft Excel

The Excel Add-in preview feature is not supported on Mac OS versions prior to 10.4 or on Microsoft Excel for Office X.

DLS 7.7.1.1 supports the following printer models:

        LabelWriter 400
        LabelWriter 400 Turbo
        LabelWriter Duo
        LabelWriter Twin Turbo
        LabelWriter 300
        LabelWriter 310
        LabelWriter 315
        LabelWriter 320
        LabelWriter 330
        LabelWriter 330 Turbo
        LabelManager PCII
        LabelManager 450
        LabelPoint 350

Earlier LabelWriter printer models are NOT supported by this version of DLS. In addition, the printers in the list above are only supported when connected through a USB port on your Macintosh computer. Printers connected to a serial port or using a Serial-to-USB adapter are NOT supported.

        UPGRADING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION

If you are upgrading from DYMO Label Software version 6 or later, all of your label files and Address Book files should continue to work with the new version of DLS. DLS version 5 and earlier labels and list files cannot be used with DLS 7.

If you have a LabelWriter 300 series printer, you must remove the printer and then add it back in the Printer Setup Utility to make sure you have all the latest label sizes available.

        NOTES:
        1. All SDK documentation and Sample code can now be accessed from
the Start menu under the "DYMO Label Software SDK" folder.

        2. This SDK requires that DLS v7.2 (or later) software be
installed on the machine using the SDK functions. It also requires
that a full install of DLS, including all template groups, be
present. A copy of DLS is provided with all LabelWriter printers.

        1. What's New
        *************

The SDK now supports printing on the new LabelWriter 400, Twin Turbo,
Duo, ExecuLabel LM 450 and other DYMO tape printers.

This latest version of the DYMO SDK includes new .NET samples in C#,
        VB, ASP.NET, and C++.

        2. Files Included in the SDK
        ************************

Below is a short description of all files installed by the SDK:

The "Documentation Folder" contains the "DYMO Label Software SDK
Manual.pdf" file. This is the reference manual for the DYMO SDK. It
contains full details on all functions, properties and structures used
by the SDK. It is recommended that you read this manual before you start
        developing with the SDK.

This folder also contains the &ldquoWindows SDK FAQ.pdf&rdquo file. This FAQ
file contains answers to the most commonly asked questions concerning
our SDK. Please refer to it before contacting the SDK support email.

        2.1. "High Level COM"
The "High Level COM" folder contains sample code that uses the high-
level COM interface of the SDK. The sample applications show how to open
a label file, set data on label objects that are on the label file, and
print the label. This is by far the most common application for the DYMO
        SDK.

Samples are provided in Delphi, VB, Visual C++, C#.NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET,
Visual FoxPro, MS Access, and Power Builder. In addition, new .NET
samples are provided and illustrate roll selection in the LabelWriter
        Twin Turbo printer.

To illustrate D1 tape printing using a LabelWriter DUO printer, we have
provided a sample written in VB. You will find this in a separate
folder named &ldquoTape SDK Sample&rdquo within the &ldquoHigh Level COM&rdquo folder.

To illustrate the SmartPaste functionality (a patented DYMO technology),
we have provided a sample written in C++ that allows you to SmartPaste
data from the Clipboard or a comma delimited file.

        2.2. "Low Level COM"
The "Low Level COM" folder contains sample code that uses the low-level
COM interface in the SDK. This interface is significantly more difficult
to develop and debug than the high-level COM interface, and should not be
attempted without first trying the high-level COM interface. The samples
show how to open a label file, create and modify label objects on the
label, and render the label on the screen.

Low-level COM samples are provided in Delphi, VB, and Visual C++.

        2.3. "IE Scripts"
The "IE Scripts" folder contains JavaScript and VBScript samples that
illustrate using the high-level COM interface to print a label from
        Internet Explorer.

Note that these scripts are only compatible with Microsoft Internet
Explorer. A separate example for printing from the Firefox browser is
        provided elsewhere.

        2.4. "XPCOM"
The &ldquoXPCom&rdquo folder contains necessary files for printing from the
Firefox browser. DYMO provides XPCOM wrapper objects that provide access
to the high-level COM interface of the SDK. To use these wrapper
objects, you will need to install them. They are located in the "XPCom"
folder and may be installed by opening the &ldquoinstall.htm&rdquo file
        contained in the XPCom folder.

        2.5. "Firefox Scripts"
The &ldquoFirefox Scripts&rdquo folder contains a sample that illustrates label
printing using the high-level COM interface through the XPCOM wrapper
        in Firefox.

        2.6. "DLL Calls"
The "DLL Calls" folder contains sample code that uses the DLL calls
provided by the SDK. Like the low-level COM interface, the DLL
interface is significantly more difficult to develop and debug than the
high-level COM interface, and should not be attempted without first
trying the high-level COM interface. The sample applications illustrate
using DLL calls to open a label file, create label objects on the file,
and render the label on the screen. The samples are in Delphi and Visual
        C++.

        2.7. "DDE Calls"
The "DDE Calls" folder contains sample code that uses the DDE interface
to control DLS to print labels. The sample applications show how to open
a label file, set data on the objects that are on the label, and
print the label. The sample code is provided in Delphi, VB, Visual C++,
        and MS Access.

        2.8. "Paper Size"
The "Paper Size" folder contains VB sample code that shows you how to
select a paper size in a printer driver when printing using Windows
        API.

Note that the DDE functionality in the SDK is only provided for
backwards compatibility. New applications should use the equivalent
high-level COM interfaces that are also provided by the SDK.
